The Russian invasion of Ukraine reveals the implications of sanctioning an oil producing country. While the current sanctions are impacting Canada’s economy, including prices at the pump, this is not the first time that international politics with an oil producing country have been clouded by an economic reliance on energy. What are Canada’s renewable energy ambitions? how do they mpact international relations with Russia and other oil-rich nations? Can renewable energy shift the balance of power?
