What's at Stake in Myanmar's Political, Economic and Social Opening?
APF Canada's National Conversation on Asia, The Harvard Club of Toronto and East Gallery
Myanmar/Burma has gone through a phase of dramatic change since its November 2010 general elections. The transition to nominally civilian rule under a new Constitution was the first step in an ongoing sequence of rapid and far-reaching political and economic reforms that have unleashed tremendous changes in the country’s political and economic landscape.
Elinor Bajraktari (Harvard MPA '04) has just returned from Myanmar, where he worked for the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP). He was responsible for developing the UNDP’s programme in support of the country’s economic development policy and public administration reform.
Having worked on critical issues in the country’s reform process and interacted with key players in its government and civil society, Mr. Bajraktari will share his insights on Myanmar’s challenges and opportunities at this unprecedented phase in its history.
This event is part of the APF Canada Talks at East Gallery series. and takes place during an exhibition of paintings, "Wonder in the land," which features five leading Burmese contemporary artists.
