Chris Clearfield analyzes the financial and regulatory risks in complex areas and devises policies to mitigate risks.
Despite mounting examples of catastrophic failure, from the collapse of Lehman Brothers to BP's Gulf of Mexico oil spill and the Lac-Megantic rail disaster, few organizations think effectively about the dangers and opportunities that catastrophic risks present. In this talk, System Logic principal and writer Chris Clearfield will discuss why catastrophic failures are on the rise even as safety systems increase, why organizations struggle to manage the risk of catastrophic failures, and how research helps us design effective interventions.
